Schools, colleges reopen amid intense heatwave

All the primary schools, high schools, colleges, madrasas and technical education institutions reopened on Sunday across the country amid intense heatwave. However, daily assemblies will remain suspended until the heat becomes more bearable. Besides, outdoor activities and those requiring sun exposure will be restricted at these institutions. The pre-primary schools will remain closed until further notice in consideration of their health risk. The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education in a press release on Saturday said primary schools operating in one shift will run from 8am to 11:30am every day. In schools operating in two shifts, the first shift will be from 8am to 9:30am and the second shift will continue from 9:45am to 11:30am. Earlier, on April 20, due to the ongoing heatwave conditions, the authorities concerned extended the closure of schools, colleges, madrasas, and technical education institutions across the country until April 27. These institutions were initially scheduled to reopen on April 21 after the Eid and Pahela Baishakh holidays.
