Rain brings relief to Dhaka dwellers

A light rain coupled with thundershowers drenched Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon, bringing relief for Dhaka residents from scorching heat. The rain started around 3:15 pm and lasted for more than half an hour. Mild to moderate heat wavw was sweeping over the countries in the last couple of days. However, the Met office also forecast light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind at a few places in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions in the next 24 hours from 9:00am on Tuesday. “Mild to moderate heat wave sweeping over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions may continue. Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country,” a weather bulletin said. Country’s maximum temperature on Monday was recorded 40.2 degrees Celsius at Khepupara and the minimum temperature today was 21.5 degrees Celsius at Tetulia. /MHK/
