High schools, colleges across Bangladesh to resume classes from April 28

Bangladesh education ministry is going to resume classes in the educational institutions — schools, colleges, madrassahs and technical educational institutions — from April 28. Until further notice, classes will be held on Saturdays to cover up the learning gap, said a press release issued by the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the ministry Thursday evening. The release also said that the assemblies would be suspended and academic activities outside the classrooms will be limited until the heatwave would become bearable, it added. The primary and mass education ministry, however,  is yet to take any decision regarding resuming classes from April 28. The seven-day closure of the educational institutions, from primary to secondary level, due to the ongoing heatwave alert, is scheduled to end on April 27. Primary and mass education ministry senior information officer Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin said that decision would be taken about the primary schools on April 27. ‘The ministry will consider about the primary level students with sensitivity,’ he added. Primary and mass education ministry on April 20 issued a press release to keep all the government primary schools, Shishu Kalyan Trust schools and Bureau of Non-Formal Education learning centres closed for seven days from April 21 till April 27. Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, under the education ministry, also issued a letter on the day to keep all government and non-government educational institutions under it closed till April 25. Dhaka University, Islamic University in Kushtia, National University and Jagannath University also started online classes only.
