Chuadanga records season’s highest 42.7C

Chuadanga has recorded this season’s highest temperature, as the mercury shot up to 42.7 degrees Celsius. Chuadanga Meteorological Office observer Rakibul Hasan said that the maximum temperature was recorded at 3pm when humidity declined to 11 percent. The western Bangladeshi district continues to bake under scorching heat, making life difficult for the people. Rakibul said that the temperature in Chuadanga has been fluctuating between 40C and 42.4C. “The temperature may rise further till April 30,” he said. Yesterday, the country’s highest temperature was recorded at 42.8 in Chudanga. Meanwhile, the intense heat is melting the asphalt on the road. With the groundwater level receding, most of the villages are not getting water in the tubewells. The unusual heat is making it impossible to protect crops. The number of patients suffering from various diseases, including diarrhoea and breathing complications, has been increasing at hospitals due to the extreme heat. Physical labour is extremely difficult amid the intense heat, affecting the low-income group.
