BAJUS revises gold prices again

Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has revised the prices of gold as the cost of pure gold falls on the local market. It cut the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 629 per bhori (11.664g), which means each carat of top-quality gold will now cost Tk 112,931, BAJUS said in a statement. The new revised prices will be effective at 4:30pm today (April 27). It will remain in effect until further notice. Meanwhile, each bhori of 21-carat gold will cost Tk 107,799, while 18-carat gold’s price now stands at Tk 92,402. The traditional gold price has been set at Tk 76,842. On the other hand, top-quality silver will now cost Tk 2,099 per bhori. BAJUS has been frequently revising gold and silver prices in recent weeks. This year, it has already done it more than a dozen times arguing that the global market is unstable because of conflicts and tensions. The price of gold often rises at times of uncertainty as it is seen as a safe investment. In Bangladesh, gold prices were raised by 7.55 percent in the first four months of this year. In the last 16 months, they jumped by 35.08 percent or Tk 31,015.
