No Saturday classes at primary schools

The primary and mass education ministry is sticking to its current operation mode although the education ministry has decided to keep educational institutions open on Saturdays. “This means primary schools will remain closed on Saturdays,” Primary and Mass Education Ministry’s Senior Information Officer Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin told Somoy on Saturday (April 27). Earlier today, the ministry announced the reopening of primary schools run by the government and Child Welfare Trust and learning centres of the Bureau of Non-Formal Education. Schools that have single shifts will operate from 8am to 11:30am but for those with two shifts, the first one will be held from 9am to 9:30am and the second one from 9:45am to 11:30am. Meanwhile, the regular assembly sessions will remain suspended until the temperature becomes tolerable. Apart from this, pre-primary classes will remain suspended until further notice. The officials concerned have been instructed to take necessary measures in this regard. On April 20, the Education Ministry decided that all primary and secondary schools and colleges across the country would remain closed from April 21 to 27 because of the heatwave which shows no sign of abating.
