Very severe heatwave hits Rajshahi, Chuadanga, Pabna

Severe to very severe heatwaves have gripped eight districts as the remaining districts experience mild to moderate heatwaves that the weather office says are likely to linger. A very severe heatwave is sweeping over the districts of Rajshahi, Chuadanga and Pabna, while a severe heat wave has gripped the districts of Tangail, Bogura, Bagerhat, Jashore and Kushtia, says the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD). A mild to moderate heatwave is sweeping over the rest of the Dhaka, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions and the divisions of Rangpur, Mymensingh and Barishal and the districts of Moulvibazar, Rangamati, Chandpur, Noakhali, Feni and Bandarban, the Met Office said in a regular forecast on Saturday (April 27). The weather condition is likely to remain unchanged, it said. Meanwhile, rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind are likely to occur at one or two places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with hail at isolated places. The weather may remain mainly dry with a temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country. Day temperatures may rise slightly and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country. Due to the increased moisture incursion, the discomfort may persist. The sun will set at 6:25pm in Dhaka today and rise at 5:26am Sunday (April 28). Friday’s maximum temperature in Dhaka was 38.2C, while today’s minimum temperature was 28.8C, the BMD said. Meanwhile, Chuadanga recorded the maximum temperature yesterday (April 26) at 42.7C. Besides, the prevailing heatwave is likely to continue tomorrow (April 28).
