Bangladesh extends heat alert again

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has extended the ongoing heat alert for three more days. Due to the increased moisture incursion, the discomfort may increase, BMD said in the heatwave warning notification on Sunday (April 28). Earlier on April 19, a three-day heatwave alert was issued. After that, on April 25, BMD extended the alert for the following 72 hours. April has already experienced a severe heatwave, and the BMD says that there will be no immediate relief from this situation. During a mild heatwave, the temperature remains between 36°C and 37.9°C. It ranges between 38°C and 39.9°C during a moderate heatwave. A severe heatwave sees the temperature rise from 40°C to 41.9°C. Any temperature beyond this point is considered a very severe heatwave.
